Brett LaGue

Brett’s home, studio and garden are in Fincastle, Virginia – where everywhere you look there is a scene waiting to be shared.

Born in Indiana, he grew up in Florida, spending countless hours wandering through woods, fields, along riverbanks and beaches. Wearing out several pairs of flip-flops, Brett graduated with honors in graphic design & illustration from Ringling School of Art & Design (Now Ringling College of Art + Design) in Sarasota, Florida.

While looking for his first job as a graphic designer, Brett discovered the beauty of Virginia. A long career in advertising and illustration eventually led to a his becoming a full-time artist. He never tires of telling people “this is the job I was always meant to have.”

Brett has exhibited in numerous solo/group presentations, art festivals, galleries and plein air competitions including Plein Air Annapolis (MD), Plein Air Richmond (VA), Artists on Location Knoxville (TN) and Bucks County Plein Air (PA). In 1999 He served as Judge for Plein Air Floyd (VA). In addition, he currently teaches oil painting and sketching classes, including the Studio School, in Roanoke, Virginia.

His work can be found in business and private collections across the United States, in England and France, as well as several galleries in SW Virginia. He is a past recipient of a professional fellowship grant from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
