Painting has been a constant in Judy’s life since childhood, working almost exclusively in oil until she discovered the beauty of watercolor in the mid-80s. She works in both media almost equally now, teaching classical and alla prima techniques in oil while also teaching watercolor classes and workshops in watercolor and silverpoint drawing. Judy holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Hollins University and has further studied Renaissance Painting Techniques at The Angel Academy in Florence, Italy, and with noted contemporary painters Sondra Freckelton and Jack Beal, now deceased, at their studios in NY.
Judy is an artist member and past Historian of the Virginia Watercolor Society and her award-winning paintings have appeared on the covers of several national art magazines and books and are in many corporate and private collections around the US and in Italy. Her work can be seen locally at The Market Gallery in Roanoke.
